Thailand
Thailand is a Southeast Asian Country, which is historically known as Siam, and officially the Kingdom of Thailand. It is located at the center of the Indochinese Peninsula, covering the total area of 513,120 square kilometer. The country is bordered to the North by Myanmar and Laos, to the East by Laos and Cambodia, to the South by the Gulf of Thailand and Malaysia, and to the West by the Andaman Sea and the extremity of Myanmar. Thailand also shares oceanic borders with Vietnam to the Southeast, and Indonesia and India to the Southwest. Bangkok is the capital city of Thailand.
Thailand is a constitutional monarchial country. The currency of Thailand is the Baht. Buddhism is the state religion of Thailand, practiced by around 93 percent of the population. Muslims, Animists, Christians, Confucians, Hindus, Jews, Sikhs, and Taoists are the other minor religions. Though Thailand is home to 71 living languages, Thai is the sole official language of Thailand. Thailand is largely tropical. It’s hot and humid all year around with temperatures in the 28-35°C range.
Thailand is called the “Land of Smiles “. The economy of Thailand has three major sectors: Agriculture, Industry, and the Service Sector. Tourism is one of the prominent industries of Thailand, contributing about 15% of the GDP. With great food, a tropical climate, famed monasteries, charming culture, wonderful beaches and islands , Thailand is the most visited country in Southeast Asia and one of the popular destinations in the world and it is affordable too.
Bangkok is the capital and the most populated city of Thailand. It is now a regional force in finance and business. It is an international hub for transport and health care, and has emerged as a center for the arts, fashion, and entertainment. The city is known for its street life and cultural landmarks, as well as its red-light districts. The Grand Palace and Buddhist temples including Wat Arun and Wat Pho stand in contrast with other tourist attractions such as the nightlife scenes of Khaosan Road and Patpong. Bangkok is among the world’s top tourist destinations, and has been named the world’s most visited city constantly in several international rankings.
Phuket is a southeast city of Thailand and the capital of Phuket Province. It is the largest beach city of Thailand and has been ranked on top as the Best Beach City. Phi Phi Island, Krabi Island and James Bond Island are the most famous islands of Phuket. Patong, the main resort town, has many nightclubs, bars and discos. The best way to get to Phuket from Bangkok is the flight which takes around 1 hour and 20 minutes. Alternatively, bus can be used to get to, which takes around 14.5 hours.
Pattaya is on the East coast of the Gulf of Thailand. It is about 150 kilometers Southeast of Bangkok. It is a self-governing municipal area, which covers the total area of 53.4 km2. Pattaya has a tropical wet and dry climate. It was once the fishing town, but, it has now turned into one of the happening tourist destinations of Thailand. It is famous for resort hotels, high-rise houses, shopping malls, cabaret bars and 24-hour clubs and nightlife. Pattaya Beach is one of attractions of Pattaya, which is 3 kilometers long and famous for sunbathing and water sports.
